Dinu and decide to try and go down the Camargue, most of the shows don’t open til later. Spend an hour at the beach, have a swim and then head back... a brief diversion causes us to take a short ferry across the Rhone to get back... we seem to notice many paddy fields along the way ... never knew the Camargue was famous for rice production as well as white horses and bulls!... they even have a 'Rice Museum' ...
Dinu's opening is tonight on the Rue Raspail. We eat and then we head for the opening, unknown to us there was food being prepared all along at the Rue Raspail.
.. and Dinu works his charm yet again... :o)
Trestles are being laid out and I meet Davina and Virgile again along with Andrew Lam and Erica, his wife. The opening is packed as it’s shared with the Voies Off opening next door - much food and drink are being consumed and there is much music and dancing in store.
In between I wander into the Voies Off venue... an interesting exhibit by Joël Tettamanti.
It’s the night of Michael Jackson’s funeral and much MJ is being played by the DJ much to the audience’s delight. we finish at midnight and we make our way back to Les Rosiers. Passing an alley by the amphitheatre we are lured by the sound of a solo sax down the way - we follow
the sound. Outside the National Photography School the sax is being played by a beautiful young blonde girl, a siren luring photographers onto the rocks as the drunken crowd exit the opening at the school - we sit and listen for 10 minutes - an exquisite way to round off the evening.
When we get back Dinu and I spent another night into the early hours on the subject of our mutual interests of Photography and Art, Music, Cinema .... and French women - no guilt involved as we are now both single - we still haven’t come across our L’Oreal Billionairess!
Fall into bed exhausted - it’s been a long day again - don’t know how many more photographic rectangles I can look at? :o)
